Beach Memories - Redang Island

Wahey people, I'm back. If ya all still haven't know, my Special + friends and I went to Redang Island a few days ago and I gotta say it's a great trip despite HEAVY rain and just okay snorkelling trips. Well, to make a simple comparison, Redang Island has fewer species of fishes to see than Tioman, and most of the time, I just saw corals, corals and corals. Until now, I'm not a fan of corals due to some cuts at Tioman, but fret not, I didn't get myself cut this time as I was cautious about big sharp rocks and corals indeed. In the meantime, I guess the snorkelling locations that we went weren't nice enough, however, it's still fun snorkelling on the surface of the clear blue water, especially hand in hand with my Special. :D

Day 1 ( 24 / 06 / 07 - Sunday)

Flying with my Special for the first time was a different feeling and yes, I was excited. We flew with Airasia and it's a pleasant journey despite waking up wee early in the morning. By the time all of us reached Terengganu jetty, it's almost 9 am, and there was a moment which was kind of unforgettable - waiting for the boat to pump petrol and it's not just a few minutes, but more than an hour. Yes, we were getting impatient but thank goodness, a speedy boat "saved us". You can never imagine how fast the boat was and it did bring us lots of thrill and excitement, and I felt as if we're in a fun roller-coaster ride or something :P Anyway, although I did not take any sea-sick pill, I was glad I was in good condition and didn't suffer sea-sickness and nausea.

As we reached Pelangi Redang Resort, I was so darn captivated by the beautiful sea, sand and view. The water was so greenish-blue and clear, and the sand was white powdery soft. Ahh.... so calm, serene and idyllic, and yes, I loved it lots! And after we checked into our rooms and refreshed ourselves, we had lunch and almost an hour later, my Special and I went for our snorkelling trip for the day. Apart from that, we also managed to take some pictures despite being under the HOT sun.

As evening arrived, all of us had dinner together, and later in the night, we played UNO and also, went for a stroll on the beach and discovered some tiny crystal like blue sand and yes, it's so very nice.

Day 2 ( 25 / 06 /07 - Monday)

HEAVY rain came puring down at midnight and it was really scary as we heard roar of thunders and sounds of wind blowing fiercely. I thought there would be a flood or something but thank goodness nothing serious happened except some leaking on the ceiling of our room. As a result, the other bottom side of the bed was wet, and thank goodness again that the rain stopped and so was the leak.

As morning arrived, we went for breakfast and it was disappointing to see the changes of the beach condition. The sand had turned into brownish colour and powdery soft no more, and the water in the sea was unclear. However, it didn't stop us from beach frolicking and snorkelling, and also we went to a nearby area where we got to watch plentiful of colourful fishes swimming around gracefully. :D In the meantime, my Special also drew a huge heart shaped on the sand with out names on it and yes, it's romantic and impressive. And did I mention that he looked so artistic...? tee-hee! * To my Special, altho' we did not take a picture of it, still I'll remember and place it in my heart always.*

Apart from that, we also went to More More Tea Inn which was situated at Laguna Redang. For your lil' info, More More Tea Inn was reconstructed for the movie 'Summer Holiday' starring Richie Ren and Sammi Cheng. I even bought a few souvenirs for Mel, my god-bros Terence and Adrian, and a couple of my college friends Reen and Pri.

In the evening and after dinner, my Special and I went for a stroll again to Laguna area as we decided to take some night photos. However, as were were walking, heavy rain came pouring down all of a sudden and as a result, we had to go for shelter and ended up at 'Summer Point Cafe' at Redang Beach Resort. We were disappointed of the rain as it distracted our activities. Meanwhile, My Special ordered a glass of 'Horlicks', and we chatted and listened to some songs as we waited for the rain to stop.

Day 3 (26 / 06/ 07 - Tuesday)

Day 3 was great as the unpleasantness of beach condition had changed into its originality where blue sea, blue sky and white sand could be seen. Yes, everything turned cheery and sunny again and so were we. As a matter of fact, since today was partially our last day of our trip, we enjoyed and indulged as much as we could and yes, we did have lotsa fun. Jessie and I was buried in the sand and although it was pretty hard to breathe, it was fun. We actually had so much of laughter together that my tummy ached a little hee-hee... And after the 'sand battle', we went for 'wave massage' at the other side of the beach. The waves was big and rough and it kept crashing on the shores. Nevertheless, that didn't stop us from enjoying the thrill and whee, we were swept up and down, up and down, and of course with our life jackets on. :D

Later in the evening, we went for dinner straight and after dinner, we took a shower and refreshed ourselves and both my Special and I went for another stroll on the beach and headed to More More Tea Inn. We even had our pictures taken together along the way and yup, it was fun and not forgetting the bright moon shining upon us. And did I mention romantic too...? Oh yes, it's romantic indeed as we walked all the way, holding hands and simply enjoying every moment of it. Also, we had our pictures taken at the heart-shaped thingy with brightly lit lights and I gotta say it's simply sweet and wonderful.

Day 4 ( 27 /06 /07 - Wednesday)

Day 4 was our last day as we prepared to return to our mainland. As we took the boat back to Terengganu jetty, I was feeling pretty unwell as the boat made me dizzy and yes, I didn't enjoy the ride. However, everything was ok as we reached the jetty and later, we headed to the airport, and at around 7 something pm, we reached LCCT Sepang and boarded the Man Utd SkyBus to Kl Central. Too bad, there weren't any Man Utd players in the bus as it was just a bus but I gotta say the journey was smooth enough as there was no bumpy ride. And at around 9pm, we had dinner together at MacD and after that, we headed back to our respective homes.

If I were to compare Tioman and Redang, in terms of variety of fishes, Tioman has more but I still gotta say I enjoyed myself lots in both locations. But one thing I really dislike about Redang is BIG FAT MOSQUITOES. Ish, ish ish, they came attacked me like CRAZY and ish, I should have brought insect repellent or something. Sometimes, it just makes me wonder why mosquitoes like me so darn much. ISH! Well, do pardon me for my lil ranting on mosquitoes ya... :P

To my Special, despite the heavy rain and things, I still enjoyed myself lots and it's so beautiful and wonderful spending time and being with you. Although time flies, I'll treasure every moment that we shared together always. XOXO

Beach Memories

I always love the beach. To me, it simply takes my breath away and gives me a sense of serenity and timelessness. And not forgetting about the rhythmic sound as the waves crashes upon the sand and yes, it's amazing. As I stepped down on the Salang Jetty, Pulau Tioman on the 22nd of October 2006, I knew wonderful moments were awaiting me, and more wonderful and beautiful ones as my Special was there with me.

Day 1

After one and a half hour ride of ferry from Mersing to Salang, we finally reached our destination. We’re led to our chalet and after we placed our belongings, we headed down to the restaurant that overlooked the sea. It’s a simple kampong-style restaurant and I think it’s nice as it suited the ambience and surrounding perfectly. Anyways, we had a quick lunch and the next thing I knew, our activities for the day was to snorkel (as a part of practice session) and my heart nearly dropped as I hadn’t snorkel before. I began to feel nervous but deep down, I was mixed with emotions as excitement took over me. After a short briefing and Q&A, I was convinced and had enough courage to get to the sea to snorkel. :)

And the moment finally arrived. After I put on the snorkeling gear, I was all set to go, and so was my Special. The tour guide’s assistant was with us to assist and guide us. Eventually, nervousness began to creep up on me as we moved a few meters away from the beach. I just couldn’t stop thinking what if I was swept away to another side, but heck, I managed to get through and I began to ease myself and enjoyed the beautiful view of the underwater. There were so many fishes and corals, and one moment that I could remember vividly was, a school of fish came swimming around me and oh boy, I felt so ticklish. Well, thanks to my Special for throwing breadcrumbs at me to attract them :P. And how could I forget about the corals. They looked so nice, yet, sharp and dangerous. :( We’re cut by the corals but thank goodness they were just minor cuts and scrapes, but since then, I think I developed a little phobia for the corals. Well, if I had to choose between corals and fishes, definitely, I’d choose the latter although I did fear of them in the very first place. Oh well, after all, it’s my first time and I think I did pretty cool, at least, I did not freak myself completely in the sea, tee-hee! :p

Later in the evening, we had dinner and had our pictures taken together around the island. It was great and most of the night view was beautiful, despite not one cluster of stars at the skies. Oh yeah, I love the stars, too bad, none of them appeared. Nevertheless, nothing mattered as my Special was with me, and I could see the dark sea, some boats floating, and listened to the sound of crashing waves. Truly nice. And how could I forget about the candles that my Special brought. Although he couldn’t place them on the sand at the beach (due to strong wind), he placed it below the stairs of our chalet and voila, candles that were aranged in a heart-shaped, burning prettily in the night. Aww..he truly made me melt! ♥

Day 2

More snorkelling activities. Yes, it's the day that I got to snorkel in the middle of the sea and in other words, for real. After breakfast, we're told to get ready and in an hour or so, we took off. We reached an island after several minutes and it's wonderful. The water was blue and I could see fishes swimming around from the boat. Despite that, I was hesistant to descend into the water (in fear) but as time went by, my nervousness began to diminish. After all, the water and the living things in the sea were too nice and I just couldn't afford to sit in the boat and watch. The next thing I knew, I was in the cool water and I began to adapt myself to the surrounding. With my life jacket, I floated at ease and with my Special and I holding hands, we snorkelled and enjoyed the beautiful view of the underwater.

After for a short while, it's time to head to Malang Rock. This time, I was pretty reluctant to snorkel as I was pretty tired and I didn't feel too good in the sea. My dive master was like "C'mon, it's very nice down here. You'll regret if you stay in the boat." I sat there thinking and after for a minute, I was like "Ok". And there I went, I jumped into the water and snorkelled with my Special by my side. And of course, how could I forget about the scary big boulder rock that had only about one metre opening. Nevertheless, we continued to swim and snorkel with gladness.

And last but not least, our last stop was at the Tulai Island, which is also known as the Coral Island. As we reached there, the beautiful view took my breath away and I was truly amazed. The island was simply beautiful. The sands were white and powdery soft. The water was blue--green in colour and it's so clear, and enticing enough that I couldn't help but to dip into the water. Of course, my Special and I spent almost a couple of hours there, taking pictures, and frolicking by the sea. And speaking about hermit crabs, we spotted two and they were so tiny and cute, and it's so sweet of my Special to name one of them after me, tee-hee! :P And how could I forget about the big, big heart shaped on the sand that my Special did (using his foot prints) and boy, I melted deep inside. Oh yes, my Sugar Rush, he is! Ahh... ♥

By the time we got back to our chalet, it's already in the evening and after rested for a short while, we headed to the restaurant to have BBQ dinner. The dinner was great and I gotta say the food was finger-licking good and yes, very delicious! And it's more wonderful as I dined with my Special, overlooked the sea and could hear the soothing crashing waves upon the sand. :D After having dinner, we walked around, had our pictures taken together, and not forgetting that we also went to a mini-bar and got to meet some new people.

Day 3

It's our last day at Salang, Tioman Island. After breakfast, we packed our belongings and while waiting for the speedboat to transfer us to Mersing, we took a few pictures with our tour guide for remembrance. We actually decided to extend our stay but since we'd already had our bus tickets (+ schedule clashed), we had to leave. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves very much during the 3 days / 2 nights stay and I gotta say it's simply wonderful.

While I was at Tioman Island, I realized it's great to try new things, and to learn new things in life. Although I hadn't snorkel before, although I fear in the very first place, it didn't stop me for moving forward, and one of the things that I accomplished is snorkelling and I think I begin to have a passion for it.

And the most important is, I got to travel with my Special. It's so beautiful, lovely and wonderful travelling with him and I love every single moment that we spent and shared together.

*To my Special,

Sun, sea, sand and view
But the best moment is
Spending time with you!
